SUMMARY:In-Person Event: What I Wish Other Departments Knew About My Job
DESCRIPTION:Registration is now open for MBPR’s May in-person luncheon\, What I Wish Other Departments Knew About My Job. \nCreating a book is highly collaborative\, but many jobs focus on just one part of the process. Title planning\, sales\, and marketing can feel mysterious to those in production\, and vice versa. Yet understanding these other roles can be key to producing quality products and improving efficiency. Join MBPR for a peek behind the curtain at different parts of the publishing process and tips for improving collaboration at each step along the way. \nThe panel discussion will be followed by a brief Q&A. This session will be recorded and shared with those who register. \nAbout the Panelists \nElizabeth Dingmann Schneider has 20 years of experience in children’s educational publishing. Her career has spanned a variety of roles\, including publicity\, project management\, and editorial. She currently serves as Editorial Director at Capstone\, where she oversees the editorial and media research teams. Elizabeth has a BA in English from the College of St. Benedict\, as well as an MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University. \nDerek Zobel‘s career path has gone from publishing\, to robotics\, to medical devices\, and back to publishing. Prior to his current role as Publisher at North Star Editions\, he was the Publisher at Bellwether Media and held marketing communications roles at Recon Robotics and Medtronic. He is passionate about public schools and quality educational materials\, serving on his local elementary school PTA and the district wide council for Bloomington Public Schools.
