January 27, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Event Summary
Explore various ways publishers can use digital tools to create or supplement their products and develop audiences for their product lines.
Event Description
The days of paper-only publishing are long behind us. We’ve moved into the digital world, creating products like ebooks, supplemental digital materials, or interactive product lines and marketing those products through social media, blogs, or online newsletters. Although we’ve made the leap, we may still feel a bit unsettled. Indeed, how best to maneuver, strategize, and operate in the digital realm—and make the most of its tools and measure their success—is an area that many of us in publishing still grapple with. And once we figure it out, the technology advances and the possibilities change again.
Whether you’re an editor, marketer, designer, publishing executive, or author, we invite you to join us for this series of presentations on how all things digital has affected publishing strategies and practices both in normal times and during the pandemic. Two representatives from Capstone Publishing will share their company’s history with digital products, how they have developed and marketed those products, and their response to the pandemic. Shifting gears into marketing, we’ll feature a presentation from the founder of Asterism and Co., a company that specializes in content marketing for book publishers, who will explain how publishers can use the digital tools of content marketing to build and retain a community for their product lines.
Kristie Thoenen has been with Capstone since 2017 and is the Director of Digital Products where she leads the product management team and the growth strategy for Capstone’s digital products, including PebbleGo and Capstone Interactive. Kristie has more than 20 years of experience in product management in the psychological and education publishing field.
Beth Brezenoff joined Capstone in 2006 and held roles of Editorial Director and Director of Product Planning before being named Associate Publisher in 2020. Beth oversees the Capstone Content Team and is responsible for the content development, strategy, and execution of Capstone’s publishing list.
Christine Dore Trant is the founder of Asterism and Co., a marketing agency with a mission to change the status quo of the publishing industry. By elevating individual publishers’ brand recognition and reader loyalty with content marketing, Asterism and Co. works to enable their clients to not just sell more books but to publish stories worth telling.
