Mission
The Minnesota Book Publishers Roundtable began more than twenty-five years ago as a small group of publishing professionals meeting around a restaurant table and has blossomed into a diverse group representing a cross section of publishing activity in Minnesota. Its purpose is:
- To develop, advance, and promote the book publishing industry in Minnesota and adjacent areas;
- To provide book publishers and others in related professions and trades an opportunity to exchange ideas and experience;
- To promote good fellowship and friendly cooperation among its members.
Our bimonthly meetings provide the opportunity to hear key speakers address issues that are timely and informative for publishing professionals.
Events
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, safety is our priority. Pending safe enough conditions, the Board is planning two outdoor networking events for this fall. However, our remaining 2021 meetings will be online only. Webinars are $5 for members and students and $15 for nonmembers.
In-person meetings are held at Open Book, 1011 Washington Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN, 55415. Fees, which include lunch, are $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. Reservations are required. If space allows walk-ins, those without reservations will be charged $30 at the door. We also offer a limited number of student tickets (with a student ID): $15 in advance. When indoor in-person gatherings can safely resume, events will also be available online for those who cannot attend due to health concerns or distance.
The Roundtable also partners with the MN Publishers & Writers Meetup in hosting happy hours for publishing professionals, colleagues, and book lovers. These events are currently on hold due to the pandemic, but we look forward to resuming them in the future.
Membership in the Roundtable is open to book publishers and those from related industries in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Members receive a discounted fee to our events, access to audio recordings of each event, and inclusion of their company info in our member directory. Members also receive special discounts and offers with the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA). For further details, email information@publishersroundtable.org.
